GET READY TO CYCLE!
THE SPRING CHALLENGE IS ALMOST HERE!
On Sunday, April 18, 2021, there will be a LIVE starting ceremony online at 9:00 a.m. ET, to kick off the National Ride to End ALZ Spring Challenge. Before or after, it is time to ride indoors or outdoors in the National Capital Area.
For indoor riders, there is a Zwift event from 9:30–11:30 a.m. ET
For outdoor riders, National Capital Area Chapter volunteers will be riding in MD and VA. Spokes, 224 Maple Ave E, Vienna, just two blocks north of the W&OD, has offered to serve as a ride hub in VA. Meetup starting at 8:00 a.m. ET. Just look for the PURPLE! Rob and Carol will be there. Parking is available on either side of Spokes shop/lot (bank lot and restaurant lot). Please do not park in Spokes lot. From the Spokes bike shop, participants can choose any distance along the W&OD, west (mile 11-45) or east (mile 11-0), or ride the scenic loop to the east along the W&OD/Custis Trail/Mt. Vernon Trail/Four Mile Run Trail/W&OD (@46 miles roundtrip). The meetup spot in MD is on the south side Bethesda Ave where it intersects with the Capital Crescent Trail across the street from Anthropologie. Austin will be there from 8:00-9:30 a.m. Again, look for the PURPLE! The scenic MD route is a 24-mile loop into DC and back. Cue sheets will be available. Ride across the Potomac and you can "join" the VA group on the Mt. Vernon Trail or vice versa.
Join us if you can. Or create your own ride. Safety is our first priority. Look for purple-clad Ride to End ALZ riders wherever you ride, and have fun!
Thank you for joining the Ride to End ALZ family. Alzheimer’s touches all of us and it will take all of us to end it. Any questions, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 703.919.3361.
