Walk Rescheduling UPDATE:

Our hearts continue to go out to the North Bay community who have been impacted by the devastating wildfires that hit last month. As a result of this disaster, the Petaluma Walk To End Alzheimer's, originally shceduled for Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Shollenberger Park, was postponed. The rescheduled date/time/place is:

Saturday, December 16, 2017
9:30 am to 12:00 noon
Sonoma State University
Recreation Center
1801 E. Cotati Avenue, Rohnert Park

We invite our walkers to a day of remembrance--not only to honor those families affected by Alheimer's disese or a related dementia, but to pay our respects to the thousands of families and business owners who have lost their homes/businesses and to the 8,000 first responders who battled the fires to keep us safe. Coming together at Walk can signal the start of rebuilding our community, inspiring hope and helping us to heal.

One mile walk or 30 mintues of yoga--Due to the venue change, the traditional three-mile walk will be replaced by either a 1-mile walk on a suspended indoor running track or a relaxing 30-minute gentle yoga session (space is limited).

The stage ceremony, including the meaningful promise garden tribute, will go on as usual, as will other key elements such as the remembrance area, photo booth, and Kids's corner. Participants will also have the opportunity to stop by and visit our sponsor tables to gather valuable information about local programs and services.

Remembering wildfire victims--The Petaluma Walk is organized by local volunteers, many whom were seriously impacted by the October fires. To honor those affected, the organizers have added a moment of reflection to the day's ceremonies. In partnership with Redwood Empire Food Bank, donations of nonperishable food items will be collected to help meet the increased need for food and nutrition assistance in the community.

Parking at Sonoma State University--There are numerous parking lots on the campus of Sonoma State University. Those attending will be required to purchase a $5 parking permit. To purchase a parking pass, there are parking permit machines located in any of the SSU parking lots.
