The Routes

Join us for the Ride to End ALZ® Nation's Capital event and experience a once-in-a-lifetime event. This event is a fully supported event for a range of riders, whether you're a novice cyclist, weekend warrior or avid enthusiast. Choose from multiple route options and select a distance that pushes you to perform at your personal best. If you can ride your bike for 2-hours and have a connection to this cause, then this is the event for you.

From start to finish, you will be supported and when you cross the finish line and receive your medal, you will feel tears of joy for what you have accomplished. There will be rest stops as a part of every route, SAG (support and gear) vehicles, along with breakfast, lunch and live entertainment!

All routes start and finish at the stunning Morven Park in Leesburg, VA, in Loudoun County - DC’s Wine Country. Riders will depart Morven Park and share the roads for the routes out of the Leesburg city limits and quickly enter a cycling paradise. Riders will enjoy splendid roads and spectacular views. The 10 & 25-mile course is perfect for beginners that want to enjoy a casual, yet beautiful ride. The 45, 65 and 100-mile routes will head north towards famed communities along the Potomac. Here, the routes will head west/southwest and pass through communities such as Lovettsville, Hillsboro, and Purcellville. The 100-mile option will do an additional small loop around Purcellville before turning for home. The routes are constantly undulating and will challenge you. Always remember that you are not alone in your journey. We will have a tremendous amount of support on the routes ranging from rest stops every 10-15 miles to SAG vehicles to an abundance of law enforcement, medical support, and signage. You will experience the Virginia countryside in a way you will never forget! All route distances are currently approximate and are subject to change in distance just slightly.

Description:

Are you new to cycling and ready to change the future of Alzheimer's disease? Then the 10-mile route is perfect for you! You will roll to the starting line after the longer-distance riders depart and you will experience a sendoff that will motivate you to pedal the 10 miles with 470 feet of elevation gain and you will return for an amazing post-ride celebration!

25-Mile Route

5-10 mph; 1-3 hours to complete

Description:

If you have a bike or are brand new to cycling and you are ready to change the future of Alzheimer’s disease, then the 25-mile route is perfect for you! You will roll to the starting line after the long distance riders depart and experience a sendoff that will leave you with goosebumps. The 25-mile ride can be moderately challenging with 1,400 feet of elevation gain. Do not worry about a thing. We will be there to support and get you to the finish line. You got this!

10-13 mph; 4-5 hours to complete

Description:

This route is the perfect mix of a mid-level challenge and includes scenery that can’t be beat! It’s simply the ride for those of you that take on the challenge for the food and drinks (you know who you are)! The 45 mile route has 3,118 ft. of elevation gain and can be challenging. Remember, we will have LOTS of support out there for you. We will get you there one pedal stroke at a time.

14-17 mph; 4-5 hours to complete

Description:

If you consider yourself an avid cyclist, but also want to get back in time to enjoy the after-party, then this is the route choice for you! The 65 mile route has 3,807 ft of climbing and can be challenging. Remember, we will have LOTS of support out there for you. We will get you there one pedal stroke at a time.

The 100/65 Mile Routes are only for intermediate to advanced level riders. You should consistently be able to average at least 13-15mph+. A time cut-off along the routes will be implemented in order to accommodate daylight and your safety.

18-22 mph; 5-6 hours to complete

Description:

If you are an overachiever who is ready for the ultimate riding challenge, then we have found your answer. This is a ride that needs to be on your bucket list! The 100-mile route has 6,540 ft of climbing and is challenging. Remember, we will have LOTS of support out there for you. We will get you there one pedal stroke at a time.

The 100/65 Mile rides are only for intermediate to advanced level riders. You should consistently be able to average at least 13-15mph+. A time cut-off along the route will be implemented in order to accommodate daylight and your safety.

VIP Monument Ride10 Mile Route

Description:

For our $5,000+ Fundraisers: The incredible element of Ride to End ALZ Nation’s Capital is, well, we’re in our Nation’s Capital! We would be remiss not to incorporate the history, sites, and energy that DC has to offer. So, we have come up with something extra special for you heavy hitter VIP fundraisers who have gone above and beyond for the ALZ mission raising $5,000 or more. In addition to the VIP Champion’s Dinner at The Wharf, you will also be invited to a 10-mile casual monument ride that starts / finishes at the famed Hains Point on Saturday morning. The ride will traverse the Lincoln Memorial, National Mall, Washington Monument and more. You don’t want to miss this opportunity!
