Walk Day Details

Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's at the upcoming San Diego Walk to End Alzheimer's on Saturday, October 5th at NTC Park in Liberty Station. Together, we'll walk and raise funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research. And together, we can end Alzheimer's disease.Get ready for an inspiring and safe Walk day with the information below.


Location, Parking and Walk Route Information:

The Walk will be located at: NTC Park - 2455 Cushing Road, San Diego, CA 92106
The Walk route is 1.5 miles long  with an option to go twice around the route for 3 miles and is wheelchair and stroller friendly. Free parking is located in lots surrounding the event site. You will enter Liberty Station on Roosevelt Street (off Rosecrans) and follow it until it ends.


Event schedule:
Venue opens at 8:00 a.m. (If you are turning in funds, visit the Check-in Tent. If you are already registered, no need to check in.)
Opening Ceremony begins at 9:00 a.m.
Walk begins at 9:30 a.m.

 

Walk Day Activities:

Walk T-shirts - We will not be handing out t-shirts on Walk day. Participants who have earned their t-shirt will receive it via mail to their home. If you raised $100, 4 weeks before the Walk you should have received your shirt already. If you earned your t-shirt after 4 weeks, it will be mailed to your home after the Walk.

Promise Garden Flowers - Promise Flowers will be available at the Walk. Come by the Promise Flower Garden on Walk day and pick your flower. We will also have markers available to personalize your flower.

Champion Club Area - If you are a Champion fundraiser, raising $500 or more, come visit the Champions area to be celebrated, pick up your medal, take a picture and grab a special treat.

Kids Tent - Bring your children over to the kids area to have some fun including face painting.

Refreshments - There will be plenty of complimentary water, energy bars, fruit and cold brew coffee available for participants. If you prefer hot coffee, you may want to make a stop on your way!

Entertainment - Enjoy live music compliments of the Siers Brothers, roving characters, dancers, cheer squads and more!

New! Awareness Presentations - Come learn about Alzheimer’s and dementia. In this 10 minute presentation, you will learn about the disease, its warning signs, how to reduce your risk and promote brain health, and the resources provided by the Alzheimer’s Association. Presentation times: 8:15am, 8:30am, 8:45am - Spanish at booth 22 and 23

Walk Day FAQ:

All participants should register prior to Walk day at act.alz.org/sandiego.
All children and family members must be registered.
Strollers, wheelchairs and wagons are welcome.
Friendly dogs on a leash (no longer than 6 ft) are welcome.
The Walk route and festivities are outdoors — please plan accordingly.
Donations will be taken on Walk day via mobile payment and cash/check dropbox.
Be sure to wear your purple! Take a selfie or photo of your team and post on social media using #Walk2EndALZ, #ENDALZ and #ENDALZOC.

You participation in the Walk to End Alzheimer's is instrumental to the success or the Alzheimer's Association's mission to find a cure, provide free care and support resources and build community, awareness and advocacy around Alzheimer's and all forms of dementia. 
 
To do this we want to encourage you to join us in fun ways that make a significant impact! We call these CHALLENGES and inspire you to participate in several ways like building your team, fundraising, and spreading information about our care and support resources.
