Why We Walk: More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s and this number is projected to rise to 12.7 million by 2050. Additionally, more than 11 million Americans serve as unpaid caregivers for people with Alzheimer’s or other dementias.

Supporting Alzheimer’s and other dementia patients and their caregivers is more important now than ever as we battle the COVID-19 pandemic. Dementia-related behaviors, increased age and common health conditions that often accompany dementia may increase risk, as people with Alzheimer's and other dementia may forget to wash their hands or take other recommended precautions to prevent illness. In addition, diseases like COVID-19 and the flu may worsen cognitive impairment due to dementia.
