Why We Walk
Every day, our staff at nearly 90 communities across Indiana care for thousands of people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. American Senior Communities sees the devastating impact Alzheimer’s disease has on families.
This disease slowly attacks nerve cells in the cortex of the brain, reducing a person’s ability to control emotions, recognize people, remember, move and think.
In providing structured person-centered care to people living with the illness, American Senior Communities strives to help residents maintain abilities as long as possible. We focus on quality of life so family can spend precious time enjoying each other instead of worrying about caregiving tasks.
Why do we walk? We understand the important work the Alzheimer’s Association does and want to do our part to help raise money to fund community programs and research in hopes of one day discovering a cure. We walk in honor of the residents and families we serve and the more than 5 million Americans that are living with Alzheimer’s.
Join us in this fight!
