Ride Dedicated to Clifford and Laura Johnson
Jully 2017 will see me biking across South Carolina again (made it last two years) to help reclaim the future for millions. By participating in A Ride to Remember benefiting the Alzheimer's Association, I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer's research, care and support.
My ride is dedicated to my maternal grandparents, Cliff and Laura Johnson. Grandpa was taken by Alzheimer's several years ago, however, my Grandmother, Laura Fadeley Tucker Johnson endured the pain and sufering of the Alzheimer's caregiver. They were a formidable pair and had a great influence on my life and I will be forever grateful for their love and dedication to the entire family.
Once agian, I do believe I will be the oldest rider on the trek from Simpsonville to Mt PLeasant, but I have been blessed with some wonderful genes that allow a 75 year-old to make the journey. I'll do the pedaling, but I need your help to raise the funds!
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into prevention, treatments and a cure for Alzheimer's.
In addition to funding research, the Alzheimer's Association puts your dollars to work by offering care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide for the millions already affected by Alzheimer's and related dementia.
Thank you in advance for supporting me on this memorable journey. I will keep you informed of my training program and hope to write about another interestingperson this year. Maybe a few that I do not know.
