2018 A Ride to Remember
The face of Alzheimer's...just what does that look like? Alzheimer’s disease doesn’t discriminate. It doesn’t matter your age, your gender, or your race. There are no hard fast rules or guidelines when it comes to this disease. There is no time table from the beginning to the end. There are no cures. Sure, symptoms can be treated, but that doesn’t negate the fact that this disease will gradually, bit by bit, steal the joy and the life out of the one you love or someone you know.
I lost my mother to this disease on April 9, 2017 after being diagnosed in 2010. A friend of mine lost her husband in 2016 to this disease at the young age of 54 having only been diagnosed in 2014. I have spent hours in several memory care units and have watched as this disease takes over each resident in different ways with yet the same outcome. I have also seen firsthand the amount of time, effort, love, patience and money put forth by the family members and caregivers of those with this cruel disease.
In July 2018, I will be biking across the state of South Carolina (253 miles) over the course of 3 days in memory of my mother and my friend’s husband, the millions of people who have currently been diagnosed and the million more that have yet to be diagnosed. I will also be riding in honor of my Dad who selflessly and tirelessly cared for my mom and who searched high and low for anything that would stop the progression and ultimately the devastation caused by Alzheimer’s.
I'm committing to raising funds that will benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease.

Please let me know if you would like for me to memorialize and/or honor someone you know and love while I ride that has been affected by Alzheimer's and/or dementia of any kind. Also, please feel free to share this email and link in any way. All donations are tax deductible.
I love and miss you Momma.
Together let’s end Alzheimer’s....Pam
