is fundraising to honor:
My Mother Mary
The Longest Day is a fundraiser for The Alzheimer's Association that takes place on the summer solstice. Everyday for someone living with Alzheimer's or caring for someone suffering from the disease is The Longest Day. I know! I lived it with my Mom.
When Dad died in 2008, we all started to notice how much he had been covering for Mom. When she went to live independently in a senior community she was ok, but declined quickly. I picked up the slack and helped with all of her day to day living until I wasn't able to anymore. She needed full time help. This disease is not about forgetting a name or where you left the keys, its about losing the ability to care for yourself, knowing who your loved ones are, the ability to speak and the ability to live.
On Saturday June 18th I'm calling on all of my fellow hiking buddies to join me in fundraising and climbing 30 different Adirondack Peaks. There are plenty of lists to choose from, The 29er Challenge, The Lake Placid 9, The Saranac 6, The Lake George 12 and more. The hikes are shorter than the 46er's but not any less rewarding. You will be rewarded with a fantastic view and knowing that you are making the world a better place by helping to End Alzheimer's.
If you can't hike send me a donation or share my page with your friends. We all know people that have been deeply impacted by Alzheimer's and love to spend time n the Adirondacks. My goal is to put someone or a small group on 30 peaks and to raise $30,000 for the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York.
The Power of a Donation
