Alzheimer's is the sixth leading cause of death, and has no medicine, treatment, or cure. It affects 6.9 million Americans and 450,000+ veterans. My father, Chuck Weaver, was one of those veterans.
My father, a Navy veteran, passed away a little over a year after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's. He was the kind of man who never hesitated to help those in need, whether it was a friend, family member, fellow veteran, or a stranger.
My father earned his dolphins and served on the USS Torsk, currently docked in Baltimore, Maryland. Every weekend, he’d work with the Torsk Volunteer Association to not only restore the boat, but lead tours. In addition, he organized reunions where those who served aboard the USS Cutlass--another submarine he had served aboard--could reconnect. However, his service in preserving history didn’t end there. He also worked on restoring the Liberty Ship John W. Brown, also docked in Baltimore, utilizing his background as an electrical engineer.
I saw what the disease did to my father, and no one should endure that. Please consider making a donation today. Every dollar donated goes towards funding research for a cure for Alzheimer's.
With your help, we can turn "Someday there'll be a cure," into "Today there is a cure."
Respectfully,
David Weaver
