The Orange County Parrot Head Club has been participating in the fight against Alzheimer's since 1995.
In 1994, Jimmy Buffett's father, James Delaney Buffett, Jr. was stricken with Alzheimer's and suffered from this horrible disease until his death at the age of 83 in 2003. In 1995 Jimmy asked all of the PHIP chapter clubs to join their local Alzheimer's Associations in the Annual Walk to End Alzheimer's. That's when the OCPHC joined the fight.
The OCPHC suffered a tremendous loss to this horrible disease when our former President and long-time Parrot Head, Nellie Carlen, lost her battle to Alzheimer's. If you knew Nellie, you will remember her as a dedicated member of the OCPHC. Please join us in our walk to honor the memory of Nellie Carlen.
This year is the 30th anniversary of the Orange County Parrot Head Club and we are proud to continue our support for the national Alzheimer's organization by participating in this year's walk in Huntington Beach.
Please join our team and I would like to challenge each of our participants to bring at least 2 additional walkers to join us.
