When you participate in an Alzheimer's Association event, your fundraising dollars fuel our mission-related initiatives of care, support and research. Here are a few tips to get you started with your fundraising efforts:

Tip #1 Facebook Fundraiser
People who collect donations through a Facebook Fundraiser raise more than 2X as much as those who don’t. Launch yours through your Participant Center. All donations received through Facebook will automatically be reflected on your personal fundraising page.

Tip #2 Matching Gifts
Many companies match the charitable contributions made by their employees. You can double (or even triple) your donation by submitting it to be matched by your workplace. This webpage is a helpful tool to check whether your company has a matching program (it says Walk to End Alzheimer’s, but the search engine applies to all Alzheimer’s Association giving!). Encourage your donors to check on their companies, too.

Tip #3 Lead with the “Why”
People are motivated to give when they hear your story and the impact Alzheimer's has had on your life. Add a photo of you and your loved one to your ALZ Stars fundraising page, and share your personal story. Use the 2021 Alzheimer’s Disease Facts and Figures video to show the larger impact of the disease:

Tip #4 Birthday Donation
Ask friends and family to make a donation in honor of your birthday. Post on your social media channels and in your Facebook fundraiser.

Tip #5 Demo Class
Teach an online or outdoor class that draws on your skills and interests. Are you a yogi? Host a backyard yoga class and ask for a $10 donation. Are you a talented chef? Lead an online cooking class for donors who give $15 or more to your fundraiser.

Tip #7 Text Campaign
Text your network and ask them to donate. Share your story and include a picture of who you are honoring.

Tip #8 Online Silent Auction
Do some spring cleaning and sell items for a donation.

Tip #9 Get Crafty
Are you crafty? Knit scarfs, paint flowers, make candles in your downtime. Auction off online or stock up now for a future in-person sale.

The Alzheimer’s Association is the largest nonprofit voluntary health organization dedicated to accelerating the progress in prevention, cure and living with Alzheimer’s disease.
