In September of 2016, 8 amazing actresses began rehearsing for the show Calendar Girls. It was two weeks after I moved my mother into assisted living as her Dementia had advanced too far for her to be safe at home. These women were my rocks during this difficult time, and we have all become lifelong friends, much like the characters in the show.
In 2020 another of our Calendar Girls faced a similar situation. Karen's mom Loretta Welch is one of the kindest people we know. Her love of theater and her love of life is infectious. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and we walk for her. We love her dearly and were saddened by how quickly her disease advanced. Karen and her family lost Loretta on August 24th this year.
In 2020 we dedicated our team to Loretta. In 2021 we'll continue to walk for her, Karen, and the rest of her family, as well as for all the loved ones we have lost. We walk for all who are affected by this disease.
Join the Calendar Girls this October as we walk to help find a cure for Alzheimer's and ALL Dementia.
This year we are walking in person again at Excite Ballpark. Please join us!
You don't have to be a Calendar Girl to walk with us, you become an honorary one when you join the team!
