As her conditioned worsened I remember watching her struggle to remember who I was when I came to visit. However, our unique hug would spark her memory every time.... until it didn't. One day I went in for the hug and she didn't pat my back or laugh with me afterward. That was when I knew it was much worse and her time with us was slipping away.
She passed away in 2011, but not until Alzheimer's ripped every bit of her away from us. We all miss her dearly and every year my family walks and donates to end ALZ. Once again, this year I will ride as well! I have formed a team with some friends and I hope you will help us reach our donation goal. No distance is too great when a cure to this disease is on the line... and so I fully intend to "Pedal ALZ Out."
-------
I am determined to go the distance for all those affected by Alzheimer's. I am inspired by the strength of the more than 6 million Americans living with this disease, and the 16 million family members and friends who provide them with care. I am also inspired by science.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer's research -- only dollars. Which is why I am asking for your support. I am participating on the Ride to End ALZ, a fully-supported, one day fundraising event where every dollar raised supports the Alzheimer's Association's efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer's disease.
With each mile I ride, I am raising funds to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer's. Thank you for cheering me on.
Cheer Me On!
