To be eligible for playing time on game day players must meet the following criteria:
• Be 21 years of age or older.
• Register online and complete the Medical Form and the Liability Waiver before attending their first practice.
• Raise a minimum of $400 by Game Day
• Attend at least 3 practices prior to game day. Coaches and players that have attended practice regularly know the plays, their teammates and the rules.
• Show reasonable participation in events throughout the season as determined by captains and coaches.

Q: Do I need to know how to play football to join?
A: No, we welcome all skill levels and encourage women to try out this fun event! We also have a lots of practices leading up to game day so that you will feel comfortable before you hit the turf on Game day.
Q: How many players are on each team?
A: The number of players is dependent on how many people register. Typically we like to have at least 20 players per team. There are 16 players on the field at one time (8 vs 8).

History of RivALZ
RivALZ began in the fall of 2005 as Blondes vs. Brunettes®, a flag football event organized by a group of professional women, led by Sara Abbott, in Washington, D.C. Her sister, Kate Stukenberg, soon expanded the game to Texas. The founders of the event have a personal connection to Alzheimer’s and designed the event to drive awareness among a younger audience while raising funds and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association. Since the inaugural game in Washington, D.C., the event has grown to more than 40 cities, raising more than $9 million and bringing thousands of new supporters to the cause.
In 2014, to accommodate nationwide growth, “Blondes vs. Brunettes” grew into “RivALZ,” empowering participants to choose the rivalry around which to organize their teams.
Today, RivALZ games are held year-round and the Madison RivALZ group is celebrating their 10th game this year!!! The initiative retains its identity as a volunteer driven event that engages young professionals in friendly but fierce flag football games held across the country.
