Welcome to My Personal Page
On June 10th I will be running the Sawtooth relay by myself. Yes- all 62 miles. This event will literally take me all day, which seems fitting to partner with the Longest Day, and raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer's. It is no secret I love to run and exercise. It promotes health, stress relief, and many other therapeutic benefits by keeping your body active. I have set a fundraising goal at $6200- $100 for each mile that I run. Please join me by either donating, or doing whatever form of exercise you love most on June 10th! Here is a link to the event FB page:
My family has had a very close connection with dementia and Alzheimer's, as my Papa Jim is battling this terrible disease. I still remember the last conversation I had with him before his memory really started to go. I was a junior in college. Papa Jim had a heart attack, and the doctors thought he did not have much time to live. I took the first flight home to say goodbye. I wrote him a letter, we cried, and said our goodbyes as we thought he was dying. That was 7 years ago. While my grandpa is still alive, that was the last real conversation I had with him. Our family lives every day, not knowing what he will remember when he wakes up, or who he will remember, and it pains me to think of the fear he experiences when he doesn't know what is going on.
Today, an estimated 47 million people across the world are living with dementia. This number is set to skyrocket to 75 million by 2030. In the United States alone, more than 15 million caregivers generously dedicate themselves to those with Alzheimer's and dementia. These numbers will only continue to rise unless we take action.
Together, we can show those facing Alzheimer's disease they are not alone. Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s and provide care and support to those facing the disease today.
