Participants in The Longest Day are asked to fundraise to fuel the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. With a little creativity — and support from friends, family and co-workers — raising funds can be easy! Here are a few ideas:
When Molly Waugh started her team, the Cape Cod Alzstars, she thought that reaching her goal was going to be tough. But she knew that asking friends and family via email would be a good way to start. Within a few days, Molly and her team received nearly $10,000 in donations. In 2016, Molly's team raised nearly $80,000 in the fight to end Alzheimer's!
ASK AT WORK
Encourage co-workers to donate and wear jeans through our Casual for a Cause program, or host a bake sale or book sale during lunch hours. You may be surprised at how many of your colleagues are affected by Alzheimer’s — and how passionate they are about helping you fundraise.
Many of our participants are surprised and touched by a donation from a childhood friend, acquaintance or co-worker who read about The Longest Day on social media. Post pictures of the person you're honoring and share a link to your fundraising page via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the hashtags #TheLongestDay and #ENDALZ. After you register, you can also download our Fundraise with Facebook app to schedule posts and share your fundraising progress.
