About this Event

The first Subzero Heroes was held on a chilly morning in February 2010 when 25 brave souls jumped into a frozen lake and approximately 80 others watched (and laughed). Since then, the event has expanded dramatically, and we expect more than 1,000 people this year. Subzero Heroes is one of our most popular fundraisers -- and because of the strong media interest, one of our most visible. Funds raised for Subzero Heroes helps support the Alzheimer's Association's goals of advancing research for the prevention, cure and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and providing support and assistance to the 5.4 million aflicted and their families.

Check-in is from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Berean Park (at the end of Reservoir Road) in Highland. The jump begins at noon.

1. A tent. There will be community changing areas for men and women, but many people bring their own private tents to change in. **New this year, heated changing rooms!**
2. A towel, blankets, etc.
3. A change of dry clothes, including shoes!
4. A filled-out copy of the event waiver to save time during registration (both Heroes and Sidekicks must fill out a waiver). This waiver can be found here.

There are 50 parking spots on site and are for use only by those with a permit. These spots are reserved for emergency responders, event staff, handicapped and the elderly. If you fall into one of these categories, please request your parking pass by contacting Lauren Voorhees at or Venesa Samuda at

ALL OTHER EVENT GUESTS can park at Bridgeview Plaza, 3650 Route 9W, Highland, NY 12528, (Tractor Supply Parking lot). We will have shuttles running in a continuous loop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Be a Day of Event volunteer and really get in on all the action! There are several ways to help.

Registration: Help with the check-in and registration process.

Crowd control: Our heroes are always very eager to jump into the frozen lake; help keep these super heroes at bay.

Set up/Breakdown: Help with the set-up and breakdown of the event. These volunteers will be asked to arrive at 8 a.m. and stay until the end of cleanup.
