Why We Walk: "Alzheimer's is a disease that dramatically affects the individual who has the illness; however, the psychological and physical stress on the caretakers and loved ones are enormous. Alzheimer's does not get a great deal of funding and / or attention, which is why I am so proud that TJX is supporting that important cause." Carol Meyrowitz, Chief Executive Officer, The TJX Companies, Inc.
In November 2010, under the leadership of our CEO, Carol Meyrowitz, TJX announced its alliance with the Alzheimer's Association and committed $1 Million to benefit their mission. In February 2013, we once again committed another $1 Million to strengthen our partnership with this wonderful organization and work toward finding a cure. Through your support, along with the tireless efforts of others, we hope to one day live in a world without Alzheimer's.
In addition to our Associate's participation in the Walk to End Alzheimer's, The TJX Companies, Inc. is also proud to be the nationwide sponsor of the Promise Garden- a hands-on, mission-focused experience that allows all Walk participants all across the country to raise flowers representing their promise to remember, honor, care and fight for those living with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers.
On behalf of our Company and the more than 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer's disease, thank you for rallying around such an important cause, one that affects 1 in 3 people in the communities where your fellow Associates and our Customers work and live.
As a participant in a TJX Walk to End Alzheimer's® National Team, you and other Associates will form teams and raise funds for Walks around the country and, in return, will earn recognition benefits for our Company.
The funds raised through these walks will help with the fight against Alzheimer's through vital research, advocacy efforts, and essential support programs and services in your local community. Furthermore, your team donations play an important role in improving the lives of people living with Alzheimer's, their families and caregivers.
Again, thank you for making an impact in the fight against Alzheimer's.
