About The Longest Day - Mike Golf

Mike Collins’ passing in 2015 from early onset Alzheimer’s was tragic for his family, his brother, Pat, and his many friends. Pat wanted to honor his brother’s memory, so he and a couple of his close friends took action in 2016 by participating in The Longest Day to raise money for research and caregiver support by playing golf. This is the 8th annual "Mike Golf" multi-state golf competition that has grown from 3 teams in 2016 to 14 teams last year. The Mike Golf competition has raised $175,000 and is consistently a worldwide Top 50 for The Longest Day.

Pat and his friends are continuing to expand the competition with more teams to hopefully exceed last year’s amount. Competition for the coveted traveling Longest Day Golf Championship Trophy has been fierce as are the bragging rights for the top fundraising team. Please cheer on the “Mike Golf” teams as they continue to show their love for Mike and their hope that one day a cure for Alzheimer’s will occur.

The Longest Day is the day with the most light — the summer solstice. It’s the longest day of the year and is symbolic of how each day for a Alzheimer’s caretaker is their longest day. In June, thousands of participants from across the world come together to fight the darkness of Alzheimer's through an activity of our choice. Together, we’re using our creativity and passion to raise funds and awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.
