Healthy habits may slow cellular signs of aging
Exercise, a healthy diet and quality sleep can protect the body against stress and slow down the aging process at a cellular level, according to new researchers. Scientists reported that a study of hundreds of older women found that stressful events are linked to increased shortening of telomeres, the protective caps at the ends of chromosomes that affect how quickly cells age. Cellular aging has been associated with age-related illnesses such as Alzheimer’s, cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Music and art can enrich the lives of people with Alzheimer's disease
Music and art allow for self-expression and engagement, even after dementia has progressed. Studies have shown music may reduce agitation and improve behavioral issues that are common in the middle-stages of the disease. Even in the late-stages of Alzheimer's, a person may be able to tap a beat or sing lyrics to a song from childhood.
