Jack started forgetting how to write a check or the location of somewhere he had been a million times. He would get lost in a sentence or be easily distracted. He went on to experience Sundowners and then Parkinson's attributed to his seeing things, hearing things like music in the rafters and small little ticks like humming all the time. He soon became wheelchair bound, not being able to communicate well and eventually forgot what to do with his food. Toward the end of his life, he stayed in bed constantly, stopped eating and passed into Heaven early one morning with his family surrounding him.
We had no idea where to find information regarding these diseases and were told about the Alzheimer's Association from friends whose family member experienced this disease also. We contacted the Wichita chapter and were sent a great book that tells you what to watch for and how to care for a person in this capacity. We were thankful for the information and knowing we were not alone was very comforting. The video sessions were helpful and full of information. I wish we would have had the time to become more involved because it is a great resource and help. I hope that a cure for Alzheimer disease can be found along with a cure for Parkinson's, too. These are dreaded diseases to watch. Thank you for your donation. God bless you.
