Emily Dagenais 90 years young. 03.19.19- 05.17.09

How do we begin to describe the wonderful person that our mother was? If you asked her children to choose one word that best described her, we would say Selfless. Mom did everything for her family. Her children always came first.

Mom had a great sense of humor and a wonderful sense of adventure, she was very independent and remained so until the age of 88 when she began suffering with dementia.

She was so very talented; a fabulous dress maker, she designed costumes for stage, her children's clothing and created her own patterns for quilts, which of course she made for the family. She beaded and made rosaries which again she gave to many. One of her greatest traditions which so many have enjoyed was her legendary Christmas cake, something she made every year and gifted to her family and friends, a tradition which continued until 2007.

Mom was a devout Catholic and she attended church at Christ the King 6 days a week in Sudbury, Ontario (where she lived most of her life). When she could no longer drive she walked, still attending 6 days a week in the warm weather.

Her kindness was apparent in her everyday life. Her home was always open to family and friends. Mom was a great mother and grandmother, she was a great sister and aunt and she was a great wife and friend. Simply put she was an amazing woman, strong, independent and above all a great caregiver.

As a family we have so many wonderful memories. She always brought and kept us together, and this she did to her last breath, when she was literally surrounded by all of her children at Lindhaven in St-Catharines, Ontario. A true testament to the amazing mother and woman that she was.

Mothers are special people and our mother was as special as they come. She was such a huge and important part of our lives, that it is difficult to imagine life without her. We all miss her so much.

Although devastating...our loss is a welcome knock on heavens door.
