Grandma Lydia and Grandpa Gus' Wedding Party
This is a picture of the entire wedding party at my grandma and grandpa’s wedding in 1947. All four of my great-grandparents on my mom's side are in the picture, and also several of my great aunts and uncles.
Grandma and Grandpa, Dating and Getting Married
This collage includes my grandma’s engagement picture at the upper left, a picture of my grandma and grandpa while they were dating immediately below that, and several pictures from their wedding day.
Family Celebrations
This collage includes pictures from several different family celebrations: At the upper left, is a family picture taken at my Great Grandpa Sol's 95th Birthday party; at the lower right, is a picture from a Passover seder at our house, when most of my mom's family, as well as my grandma on my dad's side, came to our house for the first seder; and the rest of the pictures are from my mom and dad's wedding.
My Cousin's Bar Mitzvah
This is a picture, taken during my cousin Reid’s Bar Mitzvah, of my parents and older sister (as a toddler), and my maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Extended Family Get-Togethers
The picture at the bottom left was taken during our extended family Alaskan cruise, and the rest of the pictures are from my sisters Bat Mitzvah. At the upper left and lower right are my grandparents and their four daughters - my mom on the far right, and my Aunt Pam, Aunt Judy, and Aunt Sande next to her - and at the upper right is a picture of most of my extended family on my mom's side.
Visits with my Grandparents
This is a collage of pictures of my sisters and my parents and me with my grandparents. The picture at the upper left was taken when my grandparents came up to Cleveland to help celebrate my sister's birthday; to the right of that was when they came to watch my sister compete in one of her ice skating competitions; below that, was when my grandparents came to the surprise 85th birthday party for my grandma on my dad's side; and, at the lower left, is a picture of my grandparents, parents, and my sister and me when we went out to brunch together to celebrate Father's Day.
First Extended Family Vacation Out West
This is a collage of pictures from our first extended family vacation out west. At my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary, my mom and her sisters had promised my grandparents - as part of their anniversary present - that we would all take an extended family vacation together, and that they (my mom and my aunts) would make all the arrangements. In the end, we took four trips together, one trip each summer for four summers in a row. The pictures in this collage are from the trip we took the first summer, when we all met up in Wall, SD, and spent time at Mount Rushmore, the Badlands, the Crazy Horse Memorial, Little Big Horn, Yellowstone, and the Grand Tetons. The picture in the upper left corner is a group picture from that summer that was taken after dinner at a resturaunt near Yellowstone, and in the bottom right corner is one taken at Mount Rushmore. The two other pictures are of two of my aunts on a horse and buggy ride with my grandparents while visiting Grand Tetons National Park.
Summer Vacations Together Out East and Out West
This is a collage of pictures from our family vacations to the East Coast, to Vancouver (on our way to Alaska), and in South Dakota. In these pictures are my grandparents, sisters, parents, aunts, uncles, a cousin and me.
Grandma and Grandpa
In the picture at the upper left, Grandma and Grandpa are enjoying a scenic meal with Aunt Sande during our Alaskan cruise; in the picture below that, Grandma is celebrating her 86th birthday at our house, blowing out the candles on her birthday cake; and in the picture on the right, Grandma and Grandpa are celebrating Thanksgiving with us at Aunt Pam's house in Maryland.
More Family Celebrations
The pictures in the top row of this collage were taken during my parents' wedding, long before I showed up! The pictures in the bottom row were taken in Maryland many years later, after my grandparents had moved there to be closer to where my three aunts and their families live. Of those three pictures, the two outside ones - of my grandparents - were taken in their Maryland home. The middle picture was taken at a nearby restaurant, while the whole family was together celebrating Grandma's 90th birthday.
