Anyone who knew our Mom knows what a one-of-a-kind person she was. Whether she was running a bus ride to the racetrack, chaperoning the drum corps kids, taking the grandkids to football practice or dance lessons, she just never, EVER stopped. She had an iron will and a cotton candy heart. She dragged Dad to countless dinner dances, dinner theatres, bus rides, parties and family occasions. Her house was full every holiday and almost every Sunday. To see her slip away took a little part of us each day. Her doctor said that she actually died of PVD, but, Alzheimer's took our Mom away from us long before the PVD took her body. Knowing how she was, we just couldn't believe that this was happening to our JuneBug. Our hearts are hurting and we will always love you. We miss you Mom.

We had an anniversary gathering at Davis Manor Nursing Home on 2/14/2009. This little dog, holding a blanket, was a gift from our brother Alan and his wife Norma. Michele made cupcakes for everyone at Davis Manor and we had a wonderful day.
When Mom's legs had just started to go bad from the PVD, we had her wrapped in warm blankets and heating pads to keep her legs warm and try to keep the circulation moving. Of course, the chihuahuas didn't understand any of this; they just knew it was nice and warm laying there with grandma and grandpa.
We took Mom to the Wright Township Firefighter's Picnic in July 2008. Mom amd Maria got their faces painted and Mom just LOVED all the attention she got with her very cute bunny face.
Another picture from their anniversary party 2-14-2009. She was still able to open gifts by herself and she was able to drink juice and eat a cupcake by herself. But she couldn't read the cards.Although we were slowly losing her even then, she still enjoyed time with her family and friends.
We lovingly call this one "Weekend at Bernie's." (Yes, like the movie) Mom was a TRUE sun worshipper and she would begin sitting in the sun for "just 15 minutes" every day around February or March. This was taken in May 2008, just before we moved to Pa. She was freezing....but she got in her 15 minutes.
