While in Ft. Collins, Scott met Betty Rae; two weeks later, on a church picnic, he got her alone out on this rock in the river and proposed.
It was wartime, he couldn't wait; she said "maybe" the first time (it was awfully soon), and "yes" later.
Over There, Over There
Stationed in the China-Burma-India theater, the guys set up a horseshoe pit; they also had a baseball field with second base in China; the rest of the field was in Assam.
They hung a tin can in a tree to use as a shower, but - with no women anywhere near - they soon learned they could just stand outside in the rain.

Veteran's Day, 2008
