Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2012, but knowing what I know now I believe she had been fighting this since at least 2007. To say this has been an emotional roller coaster is an understatement.
In 2012, when mom was officially diagnosed we were all dumb founded. This is a woman who was her husbands caregiver for 5 years, while he fought bone marrow cancer. A strong, independent woman who lost her own mother at an early age and she raised 5 kids without her own mom to ask advice from or to lean on.
Our mom is a fighter, now emotionally and mentally she is consumed with this terrible disease that reminds me of 1st Peter 5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil,as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour.” But in this case it’s our adversary Alzheimer’s devouring the people we love, it kills and destroys the people in our lives that we depend on and look up to.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
