Voyage for Susan/Voyage to End Alzheimer’s
Every year I make a cruise in my boat to celebrate Susan’s life and her love of everything on the water. I use these voyages to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and raise funds to continue the great work of the Alzheimer’s Association. Susan suffered from Younger Onset Alzheimer’s Disease and over seven years she lost her memory, her ability to speak and eventually her ability to walk. However boating was one activity she enjoyed and was still able to do for a long period of time. She found a quiet place onboard to sit and enjoy the water. It brought her peace and a sense of well being. She loved our boats, the great company we brought onboard, and especially the birds, animals and fish we encountered along the way. Even after she moved into a memory care facility, she was still able to follow along with my voyages. This year the voyage started in CT, and traveled down the Long Island Sound, past New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty, down the Jersey shore past Cape May, through the Delaware Bay, then down the Chesapeake Bay to Kent Narrows. The boat is being spruced up and undergoing some minor repairs, waiting for some parts and soon will continue down the bay to the mouth of the Chesapeake and if the weather holds on to North Carolina. Please donate what you can today to help us end Alzheimer’s and all Dementias in our Lifetime. Help us honor Susan and her love of the ocean.
