Fundraising Honor Roll

I’m Tonja D. Jordan, a Macon native.   I attended Southwest High School, Class of 1986.  I’m the oldest daughter of the late Terrell Hicks Sr. and Curtis and Jean Roundtree.  I have two younger brothers Terrell and Albert. I’m presently employed at Atrium Health Navicent Medical Center as a Unit Secretary of an Orthopedic Joint Replacement Unit, where I have diligently served for almost 27 years.  I am a member of Fall Line Church (formerly Harvest Cathedral) in Macon, GA under the leadership of Pastor Jordan Battani.

I started a fitness journey almost 10 years ago to improve my health.  Because of my love for dance, I enjoyed attending Zumba classes. I went from not being active to eventually taking a leap and becoming a licensed Zumba Instructor in Zumba, Zumba Gold, Zumba Kids, Zumba Kids Jr and CIRCL Mobility. Currently, I teach Zumba Gold at Atrium Health Navicent Wellness Center.  I also took the initiative and started a free Zumba Kids class at Memorial Park Recreational Center and a Zumba Gold class at Rosa Jackson Recreation Center. Both are a part of the Macon-Bibb County Recreation Department.

After starting the Zumba classes at the recreation centers, I reached out to Bibb County UGA Extension to help my participants and parents learn about eating healthy on a budget.  It is easy to tell people to eat healthily, but they also need to have the tools and knowledge to be able to know HOW to eat healthily.

I have also been able to facilitate and advocate for employee wellness by teaching Zumba at River Edge Behavioral Health and for Macon-Bibb County employees as well. In addition, I have reached beyond the Georgia borders by teaching Zumba Kids in the Florida summer program for Kissimmee City Parks and Recreation Department.

My proudest accomplishment is being the mother of two dynamic daughters, Jessica and Chanice.  Jessica is my oldest daughter, and she is a Speech Language Pathologist specializing in Memory Care and Swallowing. Chanice is pursuing a career in education. Chanice and her husband recently blessed me with my newest title of grandmother to my sweet Peyton Grace, my first grandchild.

I will be dancing in memory of a dear family friend Mrs. Virgina Johnson Thomas who lost her battle to Alzheimer's and my dear friend Eliece Colburn who lost her battle to Dementia.
