Cody Alcorn is an award-winning journalist for 11Alive in Atlanta. Cody got involved with Dancing Stars of Atlanta for a couple of reasons. First, he was recruited by Dancing Stars of Atlanta superstars Tammy Bult and Ken Covers. Tammy danced in 2022 and is the FIRST EVER dancer to win DOUBLE Mirror Ball trophies. Ken has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for Alzheimer's Association. He's also competed and judged in Dancing Stars of Atlanta. The second reason Cody got involved is on a much more personal note. He’s personally seen the impact of this disease not only on families but caretakers as well. His grandmother suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for close to 12 years until her death on Valentine’s Day in 2009. Cody’s grandfather, who owned/operated a real-estate company, also took care of his grandmother almost solely by himself during her 12-year battle with the disease. A true testament of his love as the couple was getting ready to celebrate their 62nd wedding anniversary. Like so many other families, this disease took Cody’s grandmother too soon. Cody hopes the money his team raises will help the Alzheimer’s Association get closer to crossing the finish line to finding a cure. |
