Hello! My name is Colleen Rustin. I am absolutely thrilled to be participating in the 2022 Dancing Stars of Columbus to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association! I love watching Dancing with the Stars on TV, and I have always enjoyed going to the Columbus event and seeing our local folks out on the dance floor. I never imagined it would be me out there one day! I am so excited to be a part of the Dancing Stars to help do as much as I can to fund much needed research and support for Alzheimer’s.This will be the first time the Dancing Stars event has been held live in over two years, so it is sure to be a sell out crowd!
My parents were both originally from the Columbus area, and we moved back here when I was 5 to be close to our family. I graduated from the University of Georgia (GO DAWGS!) with a degree in Finance. I have worked for Synovus for 23 years, in various roles in the Bank such as Credit Risk, Commercial Lending, and Learning and Development. I began working at Synovus Trust 3 years ago as the Manager of Trust Administration. My absolute favorite part of working at Synovus would have to be all of the wonderful people I have had the opportunity to work with through the years. I also truly appreciate the support that Synovus provides to the community and the encouragement for employees to give back and volunteer. Through Synovus, I am also the Here Matters Champion for Trust, and I am on the WISE Cares Committee, which both provide wonderful opportunities to serve others inside and out of our company. Columbus is truly home to me, and I am thankful to have been able to raise my children in this great city with my husband Rusty. We have a daughter Collins who is a freshman at UGA, and our son Stewart is a Senior and will be graduating from Brookstone this May.
I have to admit that it has been a long time since I have danced, so I am nervous to step out on that dance floor in front of so many people. I grew up dancing when I was young, and I took jazz, tap and toe, and I was also a cheerleader and dancer in high school. I hung up my dancing shoes many years ago, though, so this will definitely challenge me to remember my “dancing moves”. I am honored to be able to do this since I have had several family members affected by Alzheimers, and recently I have friends that are experiencing it with their parents and loved ones. It impacts so many lives, and especially those that are caring for someone experiencing the difficulties that Alzheimers or demetia can cause. I hope to be able to contribute to fighting this terrible disease and it is humbling to me to help with finding a cure. I also love that our local Alzheimer’s Association provides support for caregivers of those living with Alzheimer’s, as I know we will all likely be impacted by it at some point in our lives.
It would mean so much to me to receive your vote! My dance partner and I need your support to reach our goal. Your contribution is so appreciated! You can make individual donations, purchase tickets or a table to attend, or have your business donate. Please come to the event and cheer us on as we dance the night away!
