My name is Fitzgerald Dunn Bickerstaff and I am so excited to be participating in Dancing Stars of Columbus 2022! The Alzheimer’s Association is instrumental in bringing awareness and helping fund Alzheimer’s research and support programs for our community. It was an easy yes, when asked to dance!
I was born in Richland, Georgia and moved to Columbus my senior year in high school where I graduated from Hardaway High School. I have been married to my husband Boon for 23 years and we have three children: Boyd (21) who attends Mercer University, Ada (20) who attends Wofford College, and Boon Jr. (14) who attends Columbus High School. I am a graduate of Troy University with an Early Childhood degree and have been teaching the fifth grade at Clubview Elementary for the past six years. Some of my hobbies include playing Pickle-ball, reading a good mystery book and doing yoga.
My love of dance started at a young age seeing my parents dance the Jitterbug and the Foxtrot, to name a few. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of my father and my mother teaching me to dance in our kitchen. This love of dance continued on in middle school when I attended Toni’s Dance School.
Alzheimer’s has affected many of my friends’ parents as well as many friends. I have a dear friend whose husband was diagnosed soon after their marriage. Knowing that she and her husband struggled to find answers, get educated, and find support for this horrible disease was a very hard thing to witness. I consider it an honor to dance to raise money and to help bring awareness for Alzheimer’s patients and their families affected by this disease.
Please vote for me and my very talented dance partner Joshua Edens. I need your support to reach my goal! I hope you can make it to the party on May 26th, to cheer us all on!
