Fundraising Honor Roll

Dr. Walker is a native of Monroe County. She graduated from Mary Persons High School and then attended Georgia Institute of Technology, earning a degree in applied biology. Inspired by the mission of Mercer University School of Medicine, she returned to Middle Georgia to earn her medical degree and complete her residency training at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Dr. Walker is now a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist. In November of 2018 she assumed the role of Deputy Chief Medical Officer at The Medical Center Navicent Health.

Prior to her current position Dr. Walker was an educator of resident physicians and medical students through her appointment as Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mercer. She is a three-time recipient of the National Faculty Award presented by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology for promoting high standards of residency education.

Dr. Walker also previously held the position of Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Mercer University School of Medicine for the Macon and Columbus campuses. During her tenure she was able to increase the cultural competency of students and faculty while creating the opportunity for ongoing conversation and initiatives about diversity, equity and inclusion.

In her free time, she enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband, daughter and stepson.

As a physician, Dr. Walker has cared for Alzheimer’s patients and their family members. She has seen the many ways this disease affects not just those who suffer from Alzheimer’s Disease, but their loved ones as well. She believes Middle Georgia is lucky to have The Alzheimer's Association to provide so many great resources such as support groups and care coordination. But they depend on the support of everyone to be able to offer such programming. Dr. Walker is doing her part and you can do yours by voting for her!
