Fundraising Honor Roll

Dr. Paul Evans is an Obstetrician/Gynecologist serving the Middle Georgia area since 1990. His story began in his hometown of Eastman, Georgia, where upon graduating from Dodge County High School, he became a Georgia Bulldog, graduating from UGA with a BS in biochemistry in 1980. 1980 was a memorable year, as he married the love of his life, Alesia Fordham Evans and the Dawgs were National Champions. Prior to entering the charter class of Mercer University School of Medicine in 1982, he worked at a local hospital in Athens, Georgia and was a grad student in the University of Georgia’s Pharmacy School. After completing medical school and residency in 1990, he established a private practice with Dr. John Slocumb known as “Women’s Specialty Care PC”. He enjoys teaching and has served as Associate Professor for Mercer University School of Medicine and Mercer’s PA program. Throughout his career he has found great joy in building relationships and caring for patients and families in middle georgia.

Paul has many interests and loves the outdoors, yet family is his passion and along with his faith in Christ, his greatest love. Paul and Alesia have been blessed with two children Dustin and Kelley, their spouses Lydia and Stuart, and presently three grandchildren. Paul loves music and plays saxophone occasionally with a local rock band as well as dancing with his wife for fun.

Dr. Evans family has been directly impacted by this dreaded disease know as Dementia /Alzheimer’s. He watched it first hand take his uncle Marvin, with whom he spent many hours hunting, fishing and water skiing. It was sad to first see his mind taken in his 50’s and later his loss of motor function due to ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) prior to his death. More recently, Paul and Alesia have spent many hours helping care for both of Alesia’s parents with Alzheimer’s / Dementia. The disease took her dad and her mom continues the struggle with this debilitating disease.

Therefore, Dr. Evans welcomes this opportunity to dance for such a great cause. In a small way he hopes to help enhance awareness and raise support for research and families affected by Alzheimer’s. Please join him in this effort by voting for him and contributing to the Alzheimer’s Association. Thank you for your support. Join the party and DANCE ON!
