My inspiration for participating this walk is my Grandma, Mary Russell. Our family has spent the last few years dealing with the impact of this disease. We are a strong family that leans on one another to help take care of Grandma, visit her, and support one another as her Alzheimer's disease advances. We are thankful that she still remembers her children and how to play the piano as music is life and much of who she is.
By walking in the Genesee County walk, I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Every 65 seconds someone develops Alzheimer's and Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death in the US. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
