is fundraising to honor:
her husband, George
George and I met when we were freshmen in college, and have been married for almost 44 years. George just turned 67, and has recently been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease. He is a retired musician and teacher who taught for over 30 years, and played in numerous bands, including a big band, rock, and soul bands.
On June 15, I'm doing what I love to honor those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. I’m participating in The Longest Day, a fundraising event to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association, and to honor George.
My event is a Zumba class and morning tea, which will be held on June 15 at 9:15 am at Sandywoods Farm in Tiverton, R.I.
The class will be beginner friendly, low impact, and low intensity, and will be followed by tea and pastry, as well as raffles for a free concert, free Zumba Classes, and other prizes. Zumba is a great cardio workout, featuring upbeat Latin and international rhythms and easy to follow steps. It's guaranteed to make you sweat and smile!
Today, over 35 million people across the world are living with Alzheimer's, including more than 5 million Americans. In the U.S. alone, more than 15 million caregivers generously dedicate themselves to those with Alzheimer's and dementia. We must take action now, or these numbers will continue to rise.
Together, we can show those facing Alzheimer's disease that they are not alone. Please make a donation today to help the Alzheimer's Association support all those facing the disease. Thank you!
