Running for ALZ - Each step I take, I take for my mother!

My journey as a marathon runner began back in October 2017. I ran the Chicago marathon in honor of my mother Raquel “Quele” Suarez, with the amazing team being assembled by the Alzheimer’s Association, ALZ Stars. Running that year was an exciting and wonderful experience. I realized making a commitment for a such worthy cause was more rewarding than I imagined. This year I taking that enthusiam and putting it towards running TWO full marathons this fall.  I will be running the Twin Cities Marathon in Minneapolis in October & the Nashville Marathon in November. To continue with the tradition I have built, I will be running once again to support the continued research of Alzheimer’s.

In 1999 my mother Quele was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s/Dementia, my siblings and I have helplessly watched her lose her battle to this horrible disease. Quele is truly blessed with all the time, love & hard work our family has dedicated to her care. There is no cure and all we can do is comfort her with our love. It is truly heart breaking to see the mother you know and love slip away.

More than 5 million people are affected by Alzheimer’s. The ongoing battle to discover methods of prevention, treatment, and ultimately a cure cannot continue without the financial support of people like you. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.

I can’t thank you enough for your generosity and support. Please feel free to share my story with your friends and family. During the next few months of training, each step I take, I take for my mother.

Thank you in advance for your generosity – together, we can outrace Alzheimer’s disease.
