Fundraising Honor Roll

Dear Family and Friends,

On April 30th, I will dance at the Memory Ball in honor of my dear mom. By participating in this event, I am committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer research, care and support. I want to help not only our family, currently affected, but yours, when yours may be as well.

I was raised in a family of seven children and my mother worked tirelessly at home to give us a good life while my father worked three jobs. My father retired eight years ago and they were hoping to spend years of quality time together. Unfortunately my mother was diagnosed with dementia not long after Dad retired, so their dreams of retirement and relaxation, needless to say, have not gone as planned. Our family is not the same, and I have had to adjust to the fact that, my mom will not be my same mom ever again and we will never be able to have normal conversation with her again.

As a Realtor, my professional world revolves around helping individuals and families through transition. My clients become my “second family”. It breaks my heart when I see clients faced with difficult decisions regarding real estate based upon the care they now need due to Alzheimer’s. After nineteen years in my practice, this is almost a weekly occurrence now, where I am getting calls around this matter. This dreadful disease is taking so much out of those that seem they have so much of their lives yet to live, just like what is happening to my parents.

Recently I wrote a book, Better Than You Think, which is about developing awareness to live a more fulfilling life. To honor my mother, 50% of all profits for the first year are to go to ALZ Research via the Association. I am thrilled to now be a dancing star to raise even more dollars and Awareness for this cause. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.

SO—How can YOU help?? --I need your support! Please make a vote or purchase tickets and help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into prevention, treatments and a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.

Thank you for joining our movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts here, with you and me!! See you on the dance floor!!!
