I am fundraising for my mother, Joyce Darling who passed away on March 11, 2022. My mom was my rock. She was always there for me and she was one of the most positive people I had ever met. Her "baby boy" gave her so much joy and a sense of purpose during her battle with Alzheimer's. She never realized that the baby was not real. She cared for him in such a loving way. When you watched how she cared for the baby, it was how she cared for my brother and me as children.
She faded quickly in 2022 and most days she no longer knew me. This was incredibly difficult to handle at times. Watching your mom struggle for words, use the restroom, get dressed, eat, etc...is so emotionally devastating. Most days I had to call her Joyce and not "mom," because she didn't know who I was. She only weighed 85 lbs at her passing which was so difficult to see.
This disease is so cruel. Watching your loved one fade before your eyes is very painful. Please join me in the fight against this disease. Surely one of these days in the near future, there will be a cure for this. However, until that day is here, we all need to support the research that is being conducted. Please join me in walking or make a donation to our team. Your financial support of the Alzheimer's Association helps so many families dealing with this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you!
