My mom Marjorie began showing signs of early onset Alzhiemer's disease when she was only 52 years old. Mom's age and otherwise perfect health made her an ideal candidate for pioneering Alzheimer's research and she bravely participated in many studies. In her final years, she was unable to walk, sit, speak, recognize friends/family, or perform any of the most basic self care activities. She died in my arms when she was only 71.
Alzheimer's took my mom's life slowly & cruelly. It also took a wife, mom, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend from people who desperately needed her. Lack of understanding about the impact of Alzheimer's disease destroyed many relationships within our family. It absolutely changed the trajectory of many lives, mine included.
Together, we can and must end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
