Well we made it to 2022! I don't know about you, but it feels like the last 2 years are a big mush. My mom Penny is 69 years old, she suffers from stage 6 dementia. I started walking 2 years ago virtually for the walk to find a cure for alzheimers and dementia. In those 2 years my mom has had covid twice, hospitalized once,  facility went on frequent lockdowns, the longest being 13 months and 5 days, we went from stage 3 dementia to stage 6. What once was a women who would get up and dance to barely being able to stand for long periods of time. Eating habits have become a frequent concern and motor skills has depleted rapidly. With talks on the horizon of a possible new drug soon to be put through trials, it saddens me to know that it's too late for my mom. I see her every weekend and enjoy what moments i have. We watch TV, color, go outside and blow bubbles, drink smoothies together and sometimes go for a walk around the pond. I've watched my mom's personality get further and further away, but still try and bring some moments back while playing some 60s and 70s tunes. She still recognizes me when I see her or at least she pretends really well. Speech has become less clear and less full sentences. Some days are good, some days aren't. Crying in the car after a visit is pretty common on bad days. She is my everything. I walk for her and for all others who have this disease and for the caretakers. It's too late for mom, but please help me raise money so our children don't have to go through it. I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. Please stand with me and help find a cure.
