I walk to honor my Grandma Newingham, my Father-in-Law, Bill Joseph, My Dad, Carroll Newingham and my Mom, Liz Newingham. It is so sad that 5 people that I love dearly have been affected by this disease. I guess it never really hit me as hard until Dad was diagnosed because I was one of his caregivers. I can’t imagine having to do that on my own. We had the help of awesome ladies that became like family to us. Not all families are blessed with that.
1 in 3 seniors die with Alzheimer’s or other dementia. It kills more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined!
In 2021, Alzheimer’s and other dementias will cost the nation $355 BILLION!
Even if you are lucky enough to have this disease miss your family, you will still be affected by the rise of health care costs to pay for care of others. It isn’t a “quick” disease either! It’s long term caregiving.
