Hello dear friends and family,

 Thank you for stopping by my page. I would like to sincerely say "Thanks" for supporting me in this fight to end this dreadful disease called Alzheimer’s these past 7 years. Also, the words "thank you" are not enough to say to my darling daughter Justine, our team captain, who keeps Team Anna Mae going year after year. 

2015 was a very difficult year for our family. In January Dad past away and then in November I lost Mom to Alzheimer's disease. I feel this disease took both of their lives because Dad covered up what was happening to her for many years. This disease crept into their lives while taking pieces of Mom's memory slowly and continually. Alzheimer's disease came into my life once again in September 2019 when my sweet cousin Tommy "Tippy" passed away from this awful disease. My cousin and I were born in the same year and I still can't believe he is gone. 

Alzheimer's disease has a way of touching everyone's lives whether it be family members, friends, neighbors, or coworkers. It does not care about the color of your skin or if you're rich or poor. This disease does not discriminate. It attacks the brain by causing progressive mental deterioration. The most common early symptom is difficulty in remembering recent events. As the disease advances, symptoms can include problem with language, disorientation, mood swings, loss of motivation, not managing self-care, and behavioral issues. The cause of Alzheimer's disease is still misunderstood. This is why the Alzheimer's Association slogan is "The Brains Behind Saving Yours."

With all the changes we have been faced with this year, the association has decided to make this year's walk virtual in order to keep everyone safe. I will miss seeing all of you on walk day at Belmont Lake State Park. But this is our 8th year for Team Anna Mae so lets donate and make it GREAT!
