On September 12, 2016, two days after our walk in 2016, my mom - Freda Springer passed away from Alzheimer's. As my brother and I threw away countless family memories, I could't help but think it's like Alzheimer's. Everything that meant enough to be saved for all these years, went into the trash. The memories of two wonderful people are nothing anymore. I wept as countless items were thrown into a dumpster. The people who treasured these items are but a memory themselves. Alzheimer's robbed us of special times with my mom for the last 6 years of her life. We need to stop this disease that robs families of precious time with their loved ones.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
One in three seniors will die with Alzheimer's. One in six women in their sixties will be diagnosed in their lifetime with Alzheimer's.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into prevention, treatments and a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
