My Grandfauther was diagnosed when I was young, I did not understand what was going on. He was in his early 60s when he was diagnosed, it came on slow he would forget little things here and there, I recall but as I got older his mind got younger. As time went on he got worse one day my mom (his daughter) and I went to visit him at the nursing home, but he was no longer there. He was in person but not in mind it was heart breaking to my mother I will never forget this day. We took him out for a walk even though he did not know my mother or me, and we got him his favorite thing to eat (ice cream bar). Me being a young girl I didnt know what to think about him not knowing us, but my mom was devistated being a daddys girl all her life to now nothing to him. We continued to check on him and to keep the things he would like around him like ice cream, fuzzy warm blankets, and his favorite Red Sox memreibilia. I rember him though the red sox, and doing this for him in his memory. My grandfauther passed away in 2015 from this awful disease, Please donnate and help fight for a cure.
