I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's® to honor my mom, Linda Winebrenner. Mom’s retirement was upended when we noticed a pattern of her getting lost when driving from Asheville to visit us. We moved her to Charlotte so we could care more directly for her. Sadly, her condition deteriorated relatively quickly and within two years she moved from an independent living community to assisted living to needing to live in a memory care environment. It has been very hard to watch the person she was slowly be eclipsed by someone else. But even though she is different now, her love for all of us remains and her kindness and caring still show through to everyone that she encounters! She is a beautiful lovely lady - someone who made me who I am today! I love her dearly and want to honor her by helping stop this disease.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 14 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
