Veronica Lee Causer, of Winston-Salem, NC, known as "Vicky," was a creative entrepreneur and founder of Vicky Lee Designs. It is with a heavy heart that her family is announcing her passing on Monday, January 1, 2024.

She was a talented designer, seamstress, and hustler she made a way out of no way, again and again. She was a proud Gullah woman who would often tell her children and family about a dream she had, foreshadowing warnings or congratulations of a vision yet to come to fruition.

As a young child, Vicky discovered she was given a gift from God to create fashion with and without patterns. It first began as a side passion, but after a few years of college, unfulfilling jobs, and a new baby, she decided to take a risk on herself. In 1981, Vicky started her business out of her home, taking in tailoring and small projects. Throughout the 1980s and 90s, she grew her passion into a successful high-end custom wedding dress and drapery business. In addition, she served as a seamstress for the Winston-Salem Forsyth County police department. Vicky gave her gift back to the community in more ways than one. She taught sewing and needlework at Forsyth County Community College and often mentored young women as interns in her shop. Her memory will live on in the beauty of each stitch of fabric she transformed into a magical creation: the drapes framing a favorite window, a cherished wedding dress kept as a family heirloom.

Over the last ten years, Vicky concentrated on spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved eating peanut butter sandwiches and watching Masha and the Bear and Peppa Pig with her granddaughters. She enjoyed long walks in the woods, listening to music, and reading the bible with her son, Rashid.

She lost her life to dementia, but her memory will live on in her family, who loved her so much. She is survived by her children, Chanda Causer, Akil Muhumamad, and Rashid Muhammad; her granddaughters, Nylah, Nadia, Naomi Brown, and Akilah Muhammad. She also had many siblings, nieces, and nephews. All of her loved ones will keep her memories and share her stories for years to come.
