1925-2010

Roger was born in Ogden, Utah March 6, 1925, son of Roger and Golda Allison. He died at home on Friday, April 2, 2010, after a struggle with Alzheimers.

Roger married his high school sweetheart, Helen Fern Hill on December 21, 1943. Their marriage was a lasting, beautiful bond of sixty six years which served as a model of love and devotion to his five children, who are in awe of their parents' mutual love and dedication.

As a psychologist, with a Ph.D. from Princeton University, Roger lived a life of learning, caring and giving. He valued knowledge, education and research and his published papers led others along the trail of new beginnings. In clinical practice, he applied his knowledge and intellectual curiosity to heal his patients. His was a life spent mending the world and the lives he touched and often saved were too numerous to count.

In addition to his private practice, Roger was also a consultant with Primary Children's Hospital, Comprehensive Mental Health Planning Project, Junior League Juvenile Court Research, the Abbey of the Holy Trinity in Huntsville and the Tooele School District.

When Roger was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, his first and predictable reaction was to contribute to the research into dementia, so that he could continue to help others, as he had done throughout his life. This is why his wife Helen, and his children Linda Kirby (Mike), Scott Allison (Emily), Janet Thomas (Craig), and Brent Allison (Sarah), ask that contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association in his memory.

I had a dream about Dr Allison last night - 7-21-2012. I saw Dr Allison from 1976 - 1981 - when he was in practice on S Temple. I was attempting to understand my dreams. I was a writer, a photographer and a wanderer. He was so brilliant and I always looked forward to our hour of analysis. I did the work but he was so helpful, so insightful...
Sadly, this morning, I saw his obituary. I never will forget him. He helped me make an important transition in my life - and the effects continue to this day.
I will miss Dr Allison and continue to think about him - for a long time.
