I lost my dad to Alzheimer's in August 2008. My journey with the Alzheimer's Association started in 2009. It was at the 2018 walk that I joined the Greenwoods State Bank's team. It was at this walk that I first saw the "I remember" board. I thought about my dad and my mom. I lost my mom to cancer in 1995. What I remembered was the love we shared. In January 2019 my sister Beth was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. I then started a fundraising team called Remember the Love. On December 22, 2023 my sister Beth passed away from Alzheimer's Disease. I am a volunteer for a clinical trial called the AHEAD Study. The AHEAD Study is testing an investigational drug called lecanemab in people with amyloid plaque in the brain and who do not have any clinical symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease. The thinking is that removing amyloid plaque from the brain can prevent Alzheimer's Disease, before symptoms arise. How crazy is this and WHAT IF WORKS!
Don't just hope for a cure, help us find one. There is a sign at the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center in Madison that reads, RESEARCH Discovering new treatments and cures.
Please join AND OR donate to our team and help us end Alzheimer's Disease.
God Bless - Tim
