This hike is important to me because Alzheimer's has been in my family through two generations. My grandfather, developed the disease in his 60's. My mother began having symptoms starting in her 80's. My father did his best trying to help her. He finely moved them both to an Assisted Living Facility, but it was too late. His strong heart finely gave out leaving me as my mother's caretaker. I moved mom from California to Utah right after my dad's funeral to an Assisted Living Facility here. Those first months put such a strain on my emotions that I was given anti-depressants. That is when I contacted the Alzheimer's Association. The women I spoke with took her time to help me relax and the best thing gave me a caregiver website. I contacted the site and became friends with two other women who were having the same issues with their parent. I'm happy to say even though our parents are gone, that friendship continues on. I'm walking to say thank you for the wonderful service I received and for the continuing research into finding a cure. I ask for your support in joining me or making a donation to my team to help contimue out the work this organization has done.
